One issue that I feel needs to be addressed is the use of images or screen shots taken from bootlegs being used in avatars/signatures. I realize alot of people (including myself) are guilty of this, however, if videos themselves aren't allowed, audios aren't allowed, and discussion of said bootlegs is not allowed, why, then, are images from the bootlegs allowed? It's as though we're advertizing their existance and saying "look what I have, but can't talk about with anybody!" If there is worry about liability with discussion of bootlegs, why, then, is there no worry of liability with these images? It seems like a double-standard to me.
While I am entirely for the whole "no bootleg" rule, I think it would be appropriate to outlaw any sort of image from a bootleg as well, in order to placate this. By allowing images from bootlegs to be posted in avatars and signatures, it seems to me that the idea of bootlegs is still being promoted and until the presence of them is wiped off the boards entirely, I think its unfair to disband them all together.
Mods, do with this thread what you will. But please at least think about what I'm saying.
