Trio join Streep in romantic comedy
Thu Jan 22, 2009 4:51am GMT
By Borys Kit

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Hunter Parrish, star of the Broadway musical "Spring Awakening" and a regular on the series "Weeds," has joined the cast of an untitled romantic comedy from writer-director Nancy Meyers ("Something's Gotta Give").

Also joining the Universal Pictures project are Zoe Kazan, who has a supporting role in "Revolutionary Road," and Lake Bell, who most recently appeared onscreen in "Pride and Glory" and "What Happens in Vegas."

The Meyers film stars Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. It follows a woman dealing with empty-nest syndrome who is torn between her ex-husband (Baldwin) and a male friend (Martin).

Parrish plays Streep's youngest child, who is graduating from college and is about to head to the big city. Kazan is the middle child, who is about to move to Los Angeles and has a hard time dealing with the possibility of her parents reuniting.

Bell plays Baldwin's young wife, who is determined to have a child with him.

Can't wait to see it. What an awesome opportunity for him, especially looking at who else is in it! Go Hunter.

I totally don't see Zoe and Hunter as brother and sister--unless they are half-sibs.  The cast looks great, though.

Just got out of a screening for "It's Complicated." It's funny and got really good laughs & even applause at the end. Hunter's role is small but he was good and... Gosh, he looked handsome. If I didn't know Emily was in it, I would have noticed her. She was shown briefly and no lines.

Aww, she didn't have any lines? That sucks, I hope they weren't cut, I thought she had some.

Nope. She seriously was on screen for a mere 2 seconds. The movie seemed a little long to beginning with so I wouldn't be surprised if her scenes were cut. There was a storyline that I read in the sides that was completely cut so yeah...

BTW, currently the movie isn't rated yet, because it's borderline PG-13/R... it's most likely going to be R.

It doesn't seem R worthy to me. I'm pretty sure just PG-13 unless it has like insane language.

You've seen it, Jon? Because if not, then how can you have an educated guess about its rating?

No. Just based on the previews. It seems like a pretty mild situational comedy.

It's mostly the pot smoking that's bumping it into the "R" rating.

Also, pictures of Hunter at the premiere tonight. Hopefully, I'll get the non-watermarked ones up later.
