thanks 407 and penjy for reporting!!! it's cool to hear how a new cast reacts to the show, and to hear how they differed from bway since i think you've both seen it in NY, yes?
the changes sound good, but i'm happiest to hear that the emotion is escalated enough in the beating scene. i feel like to justify the rest of the play the audience has to understand that the beating scene is out of control, and that both of their emotions escalate to a point where the beating itself is justified (hunter and socha usually failed at this...)
i really hope it transfers!!! as of now i arrive in london three days too late!

Not really  , it was much more like Anna's original Touch Me reprise that I'm sure was interspersed off-Broadway with those scenes (or have I lost my mind entirely?) |

It's not really - Melchior doesn't actually sing with Wendla at any point, I don't think - it's almost like a call and response type thing.
I've just refreshed my memory of Anna's original Touch Me reprise and I think penjy's right. It was a little like that.
Also, Melchior does stand up on the chair during TF, but he has a little hand strap to hold onto while he does it. Don't know how secure he is in that chair while it's moving though.

They have a couple of tiny new moments in the pre-MJ scene, plus new lines where they are reading Ilse's letter/talking about Wendla's death. I think that's it... |

They're not, they're just nice little extra bits (much like the boys blowing the chalk off of their boards before handing them in after BOL). The boys also do this thing where, in the 'I Passed!' scene, they all simultaneously look from Melchior to Moritz, back to Melchior again, as if they're watching a tennis match. It's cute. |
