Everybody who joins the board should introduce themselves in this thread.

As for me:

My name's David. I saw the show on its last day of previews and was immediately in love - I haven't been this excited about something since... maybe ever. Joined the facebook and myspace, went to the Apple store event, bought the soundtrack, and saw it both matinees the next weekend. I want to do everything in my power to make this a successful show with a supportive fan community - this board is my first big adventure along those lines.

Hi! my name's Ariel
I saw it once the week before previews ("the night liza was there!"lol) And Ive seen it twice since opening. Went to the Apple store thing, too.

my first introduction to SA was through my obsession with Sweeney Todd, the Eugene Oneill's last inhabitant. the cast had a concert called Fleet Street on the Bowery with special guest....guess who!! Duncan Sheik (was anyone else on this board there?) Anyway i guess Michael Cerveris, who played Sweeney, sang the part of the masked man when there still was a masked man, and he and Duncan are buddies...anyway the point is they sang Blue Wind/Dont do sadness and Left Behind and i fell in love.

Anyway, Im a native new yorker, but i go to college in Savannah, at SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) so i'll probably be at the show more than once in the next few weeks to get my fill before i go back down south!

looking forward to meeting you guys Smiley

Hi, I'm Shannon. I'm a long-time Duncan Sheik fan. I first found out about the show, obviously, through him. We had been hearing about it and waiting for it for years (since 1999) until the Lincoln Center workshop in 2005 (which I attended). I've also seen it 5 times at the Atlantic Theatre and 3 times on Broadway.

Ariel, I was also at the Sweeny Todd performace at the Bowery. I was right up front, rooting for Duncan. By then I had already seen the show a number of times off Broadway (actually, I believe it had already ended its off-Broadway run by then). We were all very excited about it coming to Broadway.

I was also at the Apple Store session, which was awesome. It was great to hear Steven and Duncan talking about the process that the show has gone through and answering our questions with full-out answers. I love that they are both still so involved even though their job is technically done.

FYI: Be on the look-out for more theatrical productions from these two. Duncan mentioned "The Nightingale", which is going into workshop soon. They've been working on that for a while as well.

Anyway, I guess if you need a SheikGeek, I'm your girl.

Andy from Facebook. I first saw the show at the Atlantic off Broadway, but had heard a lot about it from a friend of mine that did a few workshops of it. Spread the word! ~a

I'm Gaby, I'm in the facebook group but I'm more active in the myspace group.  I saw the show last preview (David, maybe we saw each other!) and I was hooked.  I had brought along 13 friends, so I have a whole Spring Junkie crew now.  This show has now become my life.  Period.

Look!  I can make things move too!^_^

Why hello!  Wink

My name is Erin and I am simply in love with Spring Awakening.

I remember when I first heard about the show. It was one morning when I was on my way to school and I heard an advertisement for it on the radio. The only thing that really caught my attention was the fact that it was playing at the Eugene O'Neill, former home of my beloved, Sweeney Todd. Hahah! The first thing I thought of was, "Ugh.. Another Rent."

I gave it another chance... and I adore this show. The music is fantastic. The whole concept is wonderful. I cannot wait until I see the show.. eventually ;]

I'm Chris...myspace group moderator. I saw the show initially back at the Atlantic, and like many of you became instantly addicted. I love this show to a degree that is probably unhealthy to most people. But, here, i suppose that doesn't mean much. I'm really proud of the fan base, seeing it's progression for so long. In some ways I feel that feeling very personally. I think that is partly what this show does to you. It sucks you in and makes you feel as though you yourself are somehow a part of it. Its a wonderful feeling im sure most of you have felt already.

I can't wait to meet all of you at a stage door not too far away. I'm sure I will.

Hello all.  I'm actually Chelsea, and I will return your calls... Smiley

Anyway, my Spring Awakening claim-to-fame is bringing Chris "The MySpace Moderator" DeRoche to the Off-Broadway show for his first two times.  And would you believe, he was really reluctant to go with me the first time?  By intermission he couldn't stop thanking me, though!  I heard about the show initially because at the time, I was working for the Roundabout Theatre Company.  I've now seen the show 3 times Off-Broadway and once On.  I adore the show like everyone else and would like to see it as much as time and money allow (which sadly isn't much...).

I'm Rachel.  I saw the show last Friday with my good friend the creator of this website (nice job, David!) and I liked it enough to join a message board about it.  Which, for me, is saying quite a bit.

Hey guys--- David found me on facebook and invited me to drop in... i'm the associate musical director and i conduct the show usually twice a week. I'm so glad that you have found the show so meaningful.  We're all so proud to be a part of it, and so happy that our work moves you to act or think or feel however you're acting or thinking or feeling..... It's truly the most wonderful group of people, onstage and in the band and backstage.... people are grateful, kind, funny, compassionate, and thrilled to be working on this show.  So it's no wonder that the show has attracted such equally wonderful people as yourselves!  Keep spreading the word, and happy holidays to all of you!

thanks for dropping by Deborah, it means a lot!

Its so great to see the band up on stage, it adds so much to the experience of the show, how is it for you to be up there instead of a pit, sort of "in" the middle of the action?

Hello!  Despite my ID as Hanschen, I am a girl. (grin).  My name is Zuri and I saw the show with an acting class of mine (HS) and the music is was drew me in and as I thought more about it I grew to love the story too.

I've seen it 2 times thusfar (once on rush ticks) and plan on seeing it onstage in Jan.  I actually accidently bought the wrong date for my ticket so if anyone wants to buy, meet me after the saturday matinee.  I'm always visiting.  I make new friends there!

I was at the Mac Store that fateful day as well.  I heart Tom Hulce, Duncan, Stephen Sater.  Amazing people...

The cast is my life...

This show hits pretty close to home with me, perhaps not as extreme, but I've definitely been there before for most situations.  That's another reason why I love it and the cast so much.  It's hard being a teenager with parents who want you to do something and be someone and your so much different then they planned.  Teenage angst wasn't invented by goths, you know.

Hey yall. I'm Anthony. I live in Louisiana. I have never been to NYC so i have not seen the show, but I am obsessed. I found the video on YouTube while 'stalking' some University of Michigan students(Urintown(on youtube), Andy know them.) and feel in love with the show. I bought the cast recording at 1:00 am the day it came out on iTunes and have not stop listening to it ever since.

Hey everybody, my name's Paris.

Well, my favorite play since the 7th grade has been Spring Awakening and when I heard they were making it into a musical, I pretty much flipped out and was dying to see it at the Atlantic. BUT I had already planned my Summer 2006 trip to New York and had already bought tickets for shows every night that I was staying there, so sadly I didn't get to see it. Instead, I made my sister take me to the theatre EVERY day I was in New York so I could take pictures outside the theatre. Very pathetic.

Now that the show moved to Broadway, i'm dying for Summer 2007 to come so I can see the show FINALLLLLLLLYYYYYYY. Gahh, i'm so excited.

I'm Meg! For those of you in the Spring Awakening Myspace group, you know me Smiley I'm more active there than I am here. Actually, this is my first post!

About me..

It all started May 26, 1989. I was born and I came out of my mother and my first words were "I LOVE SPRING AWAKENING!"

:nods:

No really. I've only recently discovered the play and the musical, and I fell in love. I'm very happy to see a new, and ORIGINAL musical come to Broadway. I hope that people will open their mind and realize it doesn't take a green witch to make a genius musical  Roll Eyes
