Wait. Didn't WE come up with the phrase "disco cubes?" I think I might have... If so, is it just coincidence that the guy interviewed in that article used that phrase? I'm confused and way late on this.

Watch him mention the mirror blue bucket next.
I honestly thought this thread was the first place "disco cubes" were mentioned.

Perhaps he read the Wikipedia page? Or this thread. Either one is possible. Oh goodness, I can't even imagine what this thread must be like to read for someone who's not posting on it and for whom we're all a bunch of random strangers... it's hilarious enough being familiar with your internet personalities!

HAHA Sophie thanks for researching! I guess I did have a part of the term's invention, then, so therefore, I'm famous.

Good news, guys: Budapest has re-imagined Spring Awakening again, and from what I hear, the term "non-replica" doesn't do it justice. I think "anti-replica" would be closer. As of now I don't have much detail, because I've only skimmed a review since I'm actually going to see it in May and I don't want to have pre-formed opinions about it. But, here's a little bit of teaser: this version apparently is set up as like a play-within-a-play done by modern kids, and the "adult" roles are played by kids who warm to their fake adultness as the show goes on and become progressively darker and meaner. And, dead characters remain onstage blindfolded and handcuffed to walls.
Beyond that, I promise I'll post details after I see it. I'm going twice in May. It's in a tiny theater so my seats will certainly be good, and I've heard there is some kind of Q-and-A thing afterwards where people talk about it. My Hungarian is bad, but I'll post what I do manage to understand. Till then:
Pics are here if you haven't seen them: http://operett.hu/galeria.php?kategoria=151&kep=4625&tol=0
I am saddened to see that they've given in to the inexplicable urge to stupidize Moritz's hair. The old Budapest production didn't. I've always found it distracting and annoying. I promise I'm capable of understanding that someone is in turmoil without having turmoil physically manifested in the person's hair. gah.
