This show was pretty much amazing - everyone really gave it their all and Gemma's Ilse was phenomenal (the first time she has ever played the role).

Highlights.

MWBMR was better than we had ever heard it. Gemma's voice is so deep that it works really well and makes Ilse's harmonies really stand out. Just generally awesome.

Ben is still in love with the way Muscato says his latin. I don't even know.

Anuerin was back on as Melchior today - he told us at SD that he dislocated a rib and almost didn't go on today. On the one hand, we both really wanted to see Chris' Melchior, but Anuerin was awesome as ever, so whatever. He was brilliant today (more on that later).

When AM!Richard hit Iwan with his stick, the stick splintered and broke. Iwan didn't seem too fazed, but it looked like it was pretty hard. Splinters went flying everywhere, hee.

MJ was really fantastic tonight. Not that it isn't usually, but all the girls were really on the ball (and all of them changed quite a few things up). Evelyn's "radical" line was really awesome.

Muscato messed up his first piano solo (which I believe he has done before). Oh, Jamie. LOL, seeing as he's done it before, we can't work out if it was a character choice, or if Muscato is just really bad at playing the piano, hee. Whatever, it was completely endearing and he made it work (as did Sian, who adlibbed something, though I can't remember what).

Speaking of, Sian and Muscato are really funny in the piano scene in MJ. Seriously great.

TM was fantastic. Nice to hear Edd again, because we hadn't seen him in forever (3 shows, maybe?). Muscato's Georg solo was famazing. Literally, I AM IN LOVE WITH HIS VOICE. So yeah, Ben and I enjoyed his solo.

TDIKW - Every time we see this show, Hayley is amazing. And just when you think she can't get any better, she goes and does something ridiculous and is generally awesome. Her line delivery of "Anna, no!" was FANTASTIC. Also, that girl knows how to turn on the tears; every single time she sings this song, she ends it sobbing (but never sounds less amazing). Um, I'm a total Hayley fangirl, by the way. Also, Gemma's voice is amazing. It's really deep and rich and she just sounded so good. So yeah. We both loved it.

Beating scene was less angry again. I kind of miss the anger. But Anuerin just gets better, acting-wise, every single time he performs.

One of Ben's favourite ATTWK (not mine, though, because I still remember the Lyric days when he was riffing like crazy during this song and omg amazing...). Really, really good though.

Anuerin's MBN was fantastic today - particularly by the end of the song, where he was really belting it. Loved it.

Really quiet hayloft scene. IB sounded really great.

The stage was really empty today - only maybe 6 audience members on stage seats. The upside of this was that during TGO you could really see all the ensemble members.

Gemma's Ilse... it was amazing. Her voice, her acting, everything. Her phrasing is so brilliant - you can really tell that she has a lot of experience performing. Her Ilse is completely different to Lucy's - slightly more out there, a little drunk, kind of intense. We both LOVED her. Seriously, I think her BW made me melt. Just really nice. Also, during DDS/BW, she was doing this crazy awesome dancing (at one point I think she was almost grinding against her mic stand. It was awesome. Only thing is that she doesn't foot stomp like Lucy (no one stomps like Lucy though, hee!)
Yeah. Just... really, really good.

Natasha's harmonies in LB were amazing. I LOVE HER VOICE. I mean, you can hear her harmonies from a mile off, it's so strong. Seriously.

I have come to the conclusion that out of every Melchior, Anuerin's TF is my favourite. Not just the additional choreography (going down on his knees, crawling down the stairs and then leaning back), but just in general. The boy is a rockstar. Anuerin's leanback still might be my favourite thing ever. Guh. ROCK. STAR.
Also, Edd's part in TF kill. So good.

Haven't seen Jamie and Harry together in ages, due to all the swing dates, so it was nice to see their Vineyard scene again. Jamie almost made Harry laugh. Jamie was really killing it as well - more hilarious than I've ever seen him. He does all these little things - small smiles and eyerolls. He's so fantastic to watch, even when he doesn't have any lines/anything to do.

Ben and I are in agreement that Charlotte's Whispering gets better every single time you see it. And it was already pretty freaking amazing to start off with. I think she made me really like this song, which is something in and of itself.

TYK - Anuerin was amazing in this today. I could not keep my eyes off of him (and I'm usually busy concentrating on Iwan's voice). By the end of the song, Anuerin was a mess - crying like mad and just... he was so good.

SOPS - Gemma's voice owns, this was awesome.

So, that was it in a nutshell. Fantastic show tonight and we both highly recommend Gemma!Ilse and Muscato!Georg if you guys ever get the chance - maybe our favourite two track covers so far in SA's London run.

Fantastic review, guys...you took me to the Novello last night, if only for a minute! I think you two are basically the official TGO reps for London! ha

Also- poor Aneurin...did he happen to mention how he dislocated a rib? My ribs hurt just thinking about it- OUCH.

I'm jealous and yet overcome with love at your writing the review - how can such conflicting emotions coexist? They probably can't, and I should take a nap or something.

I love Gemma's voice, and I'm thrilled to hear she was a great Ilse!

Yeay! I am so happy that at least 2 people like the review! It really was an amazing show, i wish we could go back intime and everyone could go! Sad   I think Ni did tell us what happened at stage door, but i have such a bad memory that i have forgotten, Sorry. and what i can not get out of my head is Gemmas! "sprrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring" she rocks it so much, with so much growl and her mini "Bails of hay" riffness was just wow. We also forgot to say, the Pain on Gemma's Ilse shirt is ALOT more noticable. (i had not noticed the paint before) It was also very short lol

In the London production, does Ilse have smudged lipstick when she comes out for DDS/BW?

I really can't remember if Gemma's Ilse had smidged lipstick (I don't think so), but Lucy definitely does.

I've been curious about Gemma's Ilse, so I'm glad to hear that she delivered, and delivered amazingly~ Much like everyone else, I can't wait to go back, and watch it again - I haven't seen it since it moved to the Novello! My life, so empty, hahaha.
