I kind of agree with you. Before actually seeing Blake in the show I HATED his voice. I found it nasally and whiney and just..not appealing to me. Though I've never seen Johnny live, I would have to agree that between the two of them Johnny has the more broadly appealing sound.
However, once I saw Blake in the show, I did start to enjoy his voice. I thought it just sort of matched with the character he was playing. In seeing him I guess I was able to really listen to his voice, take it in as opposed to seeing a video or listening to a recording, and I actually really liked it.

I like how Blake kind of whispered some of the words he sang, and I thought the littler things he did in his performance were much better than the overall character. I definitely preferred Chase over Blake. Chase just completely became the character, and I didn't feel as though Blake was too invested in it.

UO: I'm not in love with Taylor!Moritz as everyone else. I prefer Blake's (and Johnny's, but that doesn't really count...) over Taylor's.

UO: I think Spring Awakening should have transferred off-Broadway after it closed. Somewhere like New World Stages. I also think it should have closed in July '08 when the 5 left, and opened up off-Broadway after that. Putting in some unknowns (compared to "known"ness of the OBC) helped to push sales down, imo.
I know its a stupid opinion, but whateva.

I agree that the show should've ended a long time before it did, but I don't think it should've went off-Broadway.

OH I JUST HAD THIS MAJOR REALIZATION AND SHAPS CAN VOUCH BECAUSE I TEXTED HER. I've seen the tour five times, and three of them were awesome, and two sucked. Two performances were conducted by Jared Stein, and all the tempos were slow. Saturday afternoon, I had the pleasure of watching Charity Wicks (from the Broadway company) conduct. Mama (Reprise) sounded fantastic, because it was finally at its normal speed, among every other song. OK JUDGE AWAY BUT I THINK JARED DOES A BAD JOB

I feel like people mostly like Jared because he always seems so "into" it and is a really nice person. I mean, I know that's what I like about him.

Jared is wicked fun to watch. I always just watched him when I was bored with the show.

What's funny is that on Broadway, Charity was always the one who seemed to have trouble keeping the show up to tempo.

I never saw Charity conduct, but I always loved to watch Kristen Lee Rosenfeld conduct.

I can totally see how it's some people's favorite scene. Personally I'm more invested in the Melchior/Wendla plot rather than the Moritz/Ilse, so I honestly just don't care about the scene.

I'm the opposite I do care about Wendla and Melchior but Moritz and Ilse are more important to me, they're my favorite characters. Out of curiousity, what is your favorite scene?

I can't say that'd I'd be totally down for a blonde hair, blue-eyed Wendla. (cause it's my choice and all).
I just feel like Wendla is already so sugary and innocent that blonde hair and blue eyes would push it even more. (Not that all blondes are like that.)
I don't know, either way would be cool, but I like brunette Wendla.

I would have LOVED to see Emily go on for Wendla understudy and I was so sad that it closed before she got the chance to! It would have been great to see how I felt watching someone who looks like she does, play Wendla.

Emily definately should have gone on as Wendla. I think it would be interesting to see a blonde Wendla.
