Huh, I forgot about the equity call. The only reason I said it's most likely going non-equity is that we know from the current cast members that the tour is "ending" in May.

I'm so excited! Really confused but excited!!

The Pantages in Los Angeles tweeted out the shows included for their upcoming season- and they have Spring Awakening listed for Feb 1 - 6.

I don't know, but just because it's listed doesn't mean it will happen. Two shows in my Broadway Across America--Boston season two years ago were canceled after the subscriptions were taken (Show Boat and Nice Work if You Can Get It, I think).

Oh man.  I thought that the theaters would only announce the shows if it's been confirmed?

But it was after subscriptions were taken?  So were the shows cancelled because there wasn't enough interest based off subscription ticket sales??

I think the financing fell through? I'm not sure. At least one of them was supposed to be a pre-Broadway run.

I emailed Pun. There's going to be a non-equity tour with a brand new cast.

I screencapped the email.

That makes much more sense.  Thanks for finding out, Jane!

I wonder when the non-equity tour will start up...

That is right Layla. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought that equity members can't participate in a non-equity production. All of the current cast members had to join equity to be part of the show, so if what I said is true then none of them can do it.

Members of Equity can participate in non-Equity productions only with the prior permission of AEA. Which would typically not be sought nor granted for something like a non-Equity tour. Which is why Pun specifically said it would be a new cast.

I'm really, really curious as to what's going on with this new tour.  LA/Pantages is the first I've heard of it.  I wonder where and when the other stops will be

A lot of cities will be announcing their Broadway Across America series in the next few weeks, so I'd imagine we'll find out more then.

So if there's a non-Equity tour, will it be the same just with different actors or will there be new costumes and a new set, etc?

Typically non-Equity tours have lower production budgets, which frequently results in less elaborate sets and costumes. However, as the set and costumes for Spring Awakening are pretty minimal to begin with, I'd imagine there won't be a ton of changes there. Maybe less lights. Wink

How about the band?  What union are the band members under?  Would it be possible for them to return on this tour?

Okay so... auditions?!  Will there be regional non-equity auditions?  I'm somewhat freaking out.
