So, basically, I don't know a single SA fan that isn't at least a little sad (or in many cases, depressed beyond belief, lol) about JGalls moving on. I'm glad that he will get to move on to new things and share his talent in a completely new atmosphere somewhere else with many more millions of people... but it's going to be hard (for me at least) to see a "new" Moritz for the first time. He defined the role for me, and I'm a little nervous about seeing a different take on it.

That said, let's talk Blake! He's obviously got some GINORMOUS shoes to fill, and the poor guy must be nervous beyond belief. In general, the Guilty Ones have taken to new castings well and positively, but can you imagine the pressure he must be feeling right about now?! YIKES!

Still, after numerous open calls and equity calls, I trust that the casting directors are not letting us down! JGalls will always be Moritz to me, but I am nevertheless very eager to see Blake. He must have incredible talent as well.

Feel free to discuss  Wink

it's really weird to think that the next time i see spring awakening (on the 20th) gallagher won't be there. but i have to say, i am so excited to see blake! i saw gerard the first time he went on, however (and this is probably one of those unpopular opinions i hold) i didn't love him as moritz. his voice was incredible, but he didn't bring the same natural awkwardness to the role that i always got from gallagher, if that makes sense.

regardless, i can't wait to see what blake does with it! as much as i love the original cast, it is the understudies and the replacements that keep me coming back because they bring a new dynamic to the ensemble and make every performance different

I'm really excited for a new Moritz actually, I'm looking forward to seeing a different actors take on the role. I am taking my brother to see the show the first week of January and I can't wait to see Blake!

What about Kate Burton? She's back to Spring Awakening! This is so cool. Smiley

I actually really don't recognize Blake. I mean, I used to watch LOST avidly and I honestly do not recall this kid's face. Anyways, SO EXCITED FOR CAST MEMBERS! Smiley

I am SO excited for Blake. Its just going to be weird that if I ever go again, the understudy board won't have a Moritz understudy (most likely), but JGalls won't be there. Its just unsettling because he's just been SO reliable through his run.

That being said, this new kid is adorable! haha I think he has the cutest little face. I can't WAIT to hear about him.

I'm excited to see him go on. I mean just because JGall is leaving its not like he is dead so I have come to terms with his departure. I've still got OSP and future projects.

So with that said I wonder what is going to be different. Like Gall make so many little decisions with Moritz that it would be impossible for the two to be the same. I mean like the fumbling with the cig. and then Gall's clumsy nature in of itself.

DOOD! He was the gay murderer kid from Judging Amy? He looks younger now than he did then. God. I hope that happens to me. Now I'm excited.

...a few things:
first, i'm anxious (more so than excited) to see how blake does. i'm always open to new cast members/regular cast members filling in for roles. if I don't rush to see John's third to last show next saturday, i'll still be going into Spring Awakening's performances with an open mind, knowing that John defined this role and he can never be replaced. I think i'm more worried about fans not liking Blake than I am about not seeing John's last show (which may or may not be a complete lie...i'm still deciding)

second...since John is leaving will they....will they change that poster of his, you know, the one with him holding the microphone in that fantastic pose? i personally think they shouldn't, only because its so recognizable and such...but with a new moritz, would they? (and they won't take down the OBC poster right?...even after all the OBC leaves? because then i'd probably be really upset)

third, and finally....let me first just say that this is only a thought/a very, very long stretch but with this news of John leaving, i'm trying to cope, so please don't kill me for saying this: John COULD always come back. yes, his band will probably take off and become very successful/well known, but there's always a possibility of it happening. Adam pascal came back to RENT, and while I know the cast is supposed to play ages 13-15, it could happen. I mean, the cast, to me, is and will always look very young for their ages. Look at Phoebe, she's 24 or 25, and she looks very young. and Remy, Eryn, and Blake? come on, they'll always look young. Of course, Skylar and Lilli will probably look their ages within the next few years, but still. ok, ending my little hopeful ranting....once again, i'm only thinking this because i can't seem to completely accept John's leaving. We'll miss you John! (and Christine and Stephen!!!!)

Yup, that's him. I think he looks younger because his hair is shorter.

I'm seeing the show for the first time dec 28, and am really excited to see how blake does. It'll be interesting because this is his broadway debut and his resume is so much more rooted in tv/ film than theatre. That being said, I'm sure he'll do a fabulous job Smiley

I've excited to see what he'll bring to the role. I'm hoping he makes it completely his own.  Smiley  Though I have to admit, I'm a little bummed I'm seeing him on his first night - completely unplanned.  But it's exciting nonetheless.  It's so weird to see him at the theatre though already with this double take of, "Oh, he's the new Moritz" when I stopped watching Lost during the first season anyway.

It's so nice to hear such positive hopes for Blake's arrival.  Just like most of you, I'll miss JGall, but am OK with the news.

I am REALLY excited to see Blake...and I will about a week and half into his run and then again in January.  While most of his professional career is indeed rooted in tv, he does have extensive experience in musical theater and in dance.

From what few clips I've seen of him, I think his potential is fabulous.  (of course I've never heard him sing) I think his "look" is great.  He looks like a lost little boy.  I think he looks younger than Galls, even though he's older--26, I think !

Try to remember how much we love (almost) all the other replacements, and keep faith in the artistic team that chose him.

Best of luck to JGalls, can't wait to see OSP in Boston.
Welcome Blake:  we are rooting for you!

I Can't wait to see a new take on Moritz but at the same time like it's been said before, Gallagher
defined and created the role of Moritz for me.  But i felt the same about Gideon leaving Gideon WAS Ernst
to me and yet i absolutely love Blake's Ernst so i think that's whats fueling my excitement for all of this.
