One Day All Will Know

I saw this on BWW and it made me curious...

"Howdy folks. Saw Spring Awakening last night. Groff did the first act, and then for the second act Melchior was performed by Jesse Swenson (who was good.) I'm just curious to see if anyone knows what happened - there was no obvious injury, so either they covered something really well or he just got sick or something. "

This was the 2/1 performance.

jinkies. I wonder what happened. The second act is a bit more physical than the first so maybe, if he was sick, he tried to go on and then realized he couldn't finish it.

I'm not sure but I hope Groff feels better if hes sick.

thought Jesses Melchior is amazing, so seeing him for the second act wouldnt be bad, if Groff wasnt sick.

I would just hate to see a change halfway through the show.  I would love to see either but once you get emotionally involved in a character it sucks to find someone else going on in the second act.

yeah especially for the people who hadn't seen the show before that performance. i can't imagine the confusion they had.

anyways i hope groff feels better

They probably (hopefully) announced it before the second act began. I'm pretty sure thats what they usually do, otherwise--yeah that would be so odd haha

Groff got sick again, is what the word was.  Don't know more than that.

According to someone on FanSite Groff was on at Matinee and looked fine, did fine.  (despite what someone else on the announcements board said...obv they weren't there.)

yeah i posted on the board, heard it on broadwayworld, i wasn't there though as speculated but, i thought icould trust it because a few different people were saying it on that topic. its not that i was trying to give the wrong information, it looked like the right info at the time. i will delete it off the US topic.
here is where my info came from anyway:
http://www.broadwayworld.com/board/readmessage.cfm?thread=956247&dt=9&boardid=1

"A friend walked by the theater this afternoon before the matinee and told me Jesse Swenson was on as Melchior (Doyle was playing one of the other boys this afternoon) today."

i guess i will not trust broadwayword as much now.

OKay I was at the SD last night. I'll say it too you in the casts words.

Gerard told us "Groff was pucking his balls off."

Skylar said "Jon came on in the first act even though he wasn't feeling too well and when I (Skylar) was backstage during intermission I saw Jon with his head in the trash can pucking his guts out. It really spooked us all to think Groff wouldn't be going back on but we pulled through."

ha ha  yea they do have some interesting ways of putting things!
so it was as I had heard... i was sort of hoping it was not because it must have been very bad for him to not go on. Groff is VERY dedicated and would never opt to not go on for the rest of the show! It makes me feel so bad hearing this and matt's tale about running off stage after touch me the other night because he had to throw up (he had a bad stomach bug for all who may not have known).. i feel like bringing a HUGE batch of chicken soup to the stage door with a note telling them to ALL feel better ha ha ha (and this is coming from a vegetarian!)

you don't want details. ew.

just putting out some info I once saw the show where Lauren was on for Ilse for MWBMR and then by the time
touch me started it was Krysta playing Ilse because Lauren was sick and they did make and announcement
after the first act saying that for the rest of the show the role of Ilse would be played by Krysta
so they do announce sudden changes like that

OMG when Gerard was talking about what happened to Groff he used sound effects of groff puking his balls off. It scared us for the rest of the night!

It was so sweet hearing what Skylar was saying about Groff and how he was the like definition of "the show must go on" AWWWWW

The SA Boys have definitely had it rough these last few weeks.  And yes, poor germ-worried Lea!

I can't imagine puking my guts out at 9pm and then being ready for a 2pm matinee the next day.  What a trooper!

Um, I think I'm going to lock this thread because a) we have figured out what happened to Groff, and b) whenever this gets reopened, I keep thinking it's something new, and far more serious.
